Who can access centacare?

Our services are available to everyone and provide safe, inclusive and high-quality care. Centacare services are mostly free, and interpreter services can be arranged for you at no cost. People can refer themselves or they can be referred by another service provider.

Centrecare Director and Valuing Children Initiative’s Founder, Adj. Professor Tony Pietropiccolo, is currently in Geneva at the United Nations HQ to take part in the Committee on the Rights of the Child as part of a group representing Australia globally. Accommodation & Support Services Centrecare Family Accommodation Services (CFAS) – a service for families who require support to maintain and/or access medium-term, non-emergency, supported accommodation.

How was centacare founded?

In the 1980’s, The Catholic Family Welfare Bureau provided funding towards a counselling service in Gippsland. Later in 1996, Arda Tymensen was approached to provide a new counselling service in Warragul and surrounding areas. But it wasn’t until 1998 when Centacare Gippsland was officially born.

We offer programs in a range of sectors, including disability, family, youth and children, health and well-being, employment, education and training, homelessness and domestic violence.

It is a not for profit, non government organisation that has been providing professional services to individuals and families since 1991. Centacare acts on behalf of the Diocese to alleviate disadvantage through the provision of services to children, young people, individuals, families and communities in the Diocese.

How long has centacare been around?

Centacare is a diverse organisation with a rich history stretching over 60 years. Since the beginning, the services we offer have varied in response to the community we support.

Why did centacare CQ start?

Sr Kinnane approached local priest, Fr Gilbert, for assistance and together they created an agency to deliver family and social services to the wider community.
