What does Shra stand for?
The intersection of the federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) with the State Human Resources Act (SHRA) creates two major categories of SHRA employment: SHRA Exempt Employees are not exempt from the State Human Resources, but they are exempt from the overtime compensation provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Who oversees Shra?
SHRA Commission members serve four-year terms. The Board of Supervisors appoints 6 members and the City Council appoints 5 members. Two Commission members are residents who live in either City or County Public Housing. City appointees are limited to a maximum of two consecutive terms.
